1) Choosing your tree

Plan where you're going to put it, preferably not too near a fire or radiator and ideally close to a plug socket for your lights.

Measure the space and DON'T buy bigger than you need!

2) When to buy your Christmas tree

We advise against buying a real Christmas tree too early. Any time from the end of November is ideal.

You can buy your tree and store it outside or in a cool place until you are ready to put it up.

3 ) Putting the tree up

Always cut about an inch off the bottom. Trees form a sap seal when they are cut, so you need to saw this off to let them "drink" again. At Loggerheads we can do this for you at no charge when we re-net the tree, and we recommend you stand the cut base of the tree in water soon after.

Use a good stand that can hold water, for example a 7 ft Nordmann will drink about 1/2 pint a day in a warm room so check the water level regularly.

We recommend and supply KRINNER stands because they are extremely easy to use, will hold your tree securely and have excellent build quality.

4) Taking down your tree and disposing of it.

Take down your tree as shown in the photos below. We suggest wrapping the tree in a large sheet before taking it outside to avoid making a mess!

If you have outside space and want to make use of your tree for longer, why not use it to hang bird feeders or garden ornaments from it. Customers tell us they stay green for months!!

Alternatively you can you can chop it up and put it into the garden waste.
